As we roll into the eighth week of play, the next seven week schedule was distributed to all members of the league. The annual Turkey Shoot will be held after the final match on December 15th. As we head into the final week of the first half of Round One, a couple of teams were on a bye this week. This was necessary to balance out the schedule following the DartMares’ departure a few weeks ago, and the same arrangement will apply next week. The biggest challenge in reworking the schedule was finding a spot for one final game in the eight-week revamp. The Parksville Legion accommodated two of their sponsored teams, the home-team Short Sighted Crew and the away-team Remark-A-Bulls. Taking the lead early by winning the doubles set and the first singles set, the Crew kept up the pressure on their opponents throughout the match. Playing at the Eagles Hall, two of the three Eagles teams met for a challenging night of darts. The Eagles Hall X-Men played home to Magi’s DartMares away status. Confusion over team rotation rules resulted in the home team rotating six players and the away team in a straight six rotation. Either way, every player played their opposing team players just once. Playing at their joint home venue, the Eagles Hall, the AMC Straight Arrows met with the Eagles Hall Darts of Hazzard for a thrillingly close match of darts. Winning two of the three doubles matches proved to be the key win for the Darts of Hazzard as the singles sets were a ping-pong of dominance between the two teams. Well, the banquet was held May 30th at the Parksville Legion. The Exec showed up early to do the set up and it was already done, decorated and just needed the addition of a centerpiece on each table. With our freshly printed gaming license in action, new Director, Heath Mahoney, began our first official 50/50 draw, selling tickets throughout the dinner and beyond. Pre-registration and a stern warning about cancelling seems to have brought out a record number of players to the Money Shoot held February 21st at the Parksville Legion. With 25 pre-registered, 20 players arrived before the registration deadline. There were the usual league players at this shoot, plus four non-league members who played very well.
