Week 21 Recap: The Darts Drama Unfolds!

What a week for darts! We had drama, upsets, and some epic moments on the boards. Let’s dive right into it!

Eagles Hall X-Men vs. Darts of Hazzard

The scene at Eagles Hall was set for a showdown, and boy, it delivered. John Coulter of Darts of Hazzard was on fire, hitting a 125 and followed it up with his first-ever 180! But, in a cruel twist, he busted his score with 178 left, and despite posing for a quick pic, he couldn’t recover, losing the match in the end. The rest of his team struggled with doubles, except for Heath Mahoney, who, along with John, won four out of five singles. Faith Hamilton Thorne also came through with a monster 136 to top the scores for the night. The X-Men were on their game though, winning all three doubles and dominating the match with a 4-1 set victory. Captains Todd Burnham and Glenn Dilworth led the charge, each winning four of their five matches, while Fraser Vincent’s 133 against Brody Jenkinson was a highlight.

Final Score: Eagles Hall X-Men – 19, Darts of Hazzard – 14

Deep Bay Consulting Oceanside Triples vs. Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew Over at the Parksville Legion, the Short Sighted Crew took an early lead, winning two of the three doubles games and dominating the first two sets. But the Oceanside Triples weren’t giving up and pulled off a strong comeback, winning two sets in a row. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Jeff Rhode led the Crew with four out of five singles wins, while Peter Bisiker delivered a standout performance, hitting both a 132 and 140 in one game. For the Triples, Keith Reimer pulled off a solid four wins, including a 106 out that landed him fourth on the Men’s High Outs Leaderboard. And don’t forget about Rica Reimer – she nailed a 150 in doubles, landing herself in third place on the Women’s High Score Leaderboard.

In the end, the Vaders' Rod Swindell, Steve Collins, and Ryan Denbigh stepped up, doubling out and clinching the win for their team. Rod and Ryan were unstoppable, each doubling out four of their five singles. Warren Potter also contributed with a 171 against Shane Ovington of the Arrows.Captain Rob Clark led the charge for the Arrows, losing just one match all night to Rod. Roto Maxx Renegades vs. The Bashers

And now for the shock of the season – the Renegades finally took a loss! The Bashers pulled off an upset, beating the league leaders in a thrilling match. The Renegades initially took two of the three doubles, but it was the Bashers’ singles that made the difference. Anita Hopps, Michelle Gummeson (whose darts were praised by Renegades’ Thom Ford), and Randy Burrows pushed the Bashers to a narrow win. Randy only lost to Renegade Terry Strawson, while Joe Fortune lit it up with two 140s, making his mark as the Bashers’ top scorer for the night. For the Renegades, Terry Strawson was the star, winning four of five singles, but even his performance couldn’t save the team after Captain Lorraine Paquette had an off night. Still, she hit some high scores, including a 134 and 138 in the same match.

Final Score: Rotor Maxx Renegades – 16, The Bashers – 17
