The Eagles Hall Double Eagles had a marginally better week than last, hosting the His and Hers Darts of Hazzard at the Eagles Hall on Tuesday night.  Only one Double Eagle failed to double out this week, led by the pride of Newfoundland, Pat Bannister, who achieved three wins in his five singles games.  Despite Toni Crompton’s inability to find a double, she hit all the high scores for the team, pinning a 100x2 and a 103.  Captain of the Hazzards, Harry Van Heerwaarden, and Heath Mahoney were unstoppable with their doubles finding the mark in six for six matches.  Heath also earned the team high score with a 120 scored against Double Eagle Karen Bannister in his second match of the night.

Final score Eagles Hall Double Eagles – 8, His & Hers Darts of Hazzard – 25

The Oceanside Triples were the third team to be bulldozed by the Rotor Maxx Renegades in as many weeks.  League newcomer, Mike Blouin, and the Triples’ captain, Jim Hood, took one doubles match away from the raiding Renegades, but it was the Dynamic Duo of Darren and Denise Tabler who doubled out before Rocky Pauquette and Thom Ford respectively to capture the home team’s only two single wins.  Jim Hood also topped the scores with a 114 and a 74 out in the doubles match.  Renegade’s Terry Strawson, Rocky Paquette and Larry MacDonald all shot a 140, while Rocky landed on the Leader Board with an 88 out and Thom Ford joined him there with a 106 check out.

Final score Deep Bay Contracting Oceanside Triples – 3, Rotor Maxx Renegades – 30

The Bashers and the French Creek Pub Dart Vaders met on the oche Wednesday night at the Eagles, both teams were short players because of the irregular night of play.  They made the best of it with five Bashers and five Vaders, including new team spare and wunderkind, Ember Hayes.  Taking all three doubles, the teams chipped away at each other, alternating winning sets after the doubles debacle.  Despite a strong push from the home team in the final set, the Bashers wound up a bit short against their worthy adversaries, with the Vaders a full set of points ahead by the end of the match. Leading the wins for the away team, Steve Collins, lost only to Basher Anita Hopps, also hitting a personal high score of 133 while taking a 104 check out against Tom Ayley, and putting himself in second place on the Leader Board. The Vader’s high score went to Ken Hayes’ progeny, Ember, who pinned a 156 in her match against Rob Shaw, landing her on the Leader Board but failing to bring the match win in the end.  Ken Hayes was the other top scorer, trailing behind Ember with a mere 140.

Final score The Bashers – 14, French Creek Pub Dart Vaders – 19

The final match of the week was between the Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew and the almost fully available Eagles Hall X-Men, who are getting closer each week.  The Crew started the night by handing the X-Men their flights in all three doubles games and almost into the third singles set before the X-Men pulled up their socks and flipped the wins around.  It was Crew member, Kevin Martin, who doubled out the all-important match winning double (his only win btw) in the middle of the final set of singles. Teammate Jeff Rhode led the team with five wins in six matches and captain, Don Punter, popped in a 122 to top the team scores for the evening.  Leading the wins for the X-Men, Glenn Dilworth and the elusive Jim Thompson found the double first in four of their six singles games.  Jim pinned a 72 out against one of his opponents, not Leader Board worthy but not bad for his first night back at darts since last season.  Jim, along with Pony Moore, seized the top team score for the evening with matching 140’s.

Final score Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew – 17, Eagles Hall X-Men – 16

Before I sign off, I would like to suggest that if a player has a HIGH OUT (an out over 80 please), please mark it in the game it was earned and not just on the bottom of the sheet, so we can all read about it in the following week.
