With a couple of the team dressed as Wednesday Addams and what I assumed was Patch Adams, the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes joined the costume-less Bristle Bashers at the Parksville Legion for a fast-paced night of darts. Taking the lead early, the home-team Bristle Bashers were relentless in their doubles, serving the Eagle Eyes three whitewash sets before the night was over. Ken Hayes, Steve Collins and Terry Strawson best all six of their opponents and Terry and Ken topped the team scores with a 140. All but one of the Eagle Eyes picked off a single win from their adversaries. Eagle Eye Heath Mahoney topped the team scores with a 125 in his match against Terry, but was no contest against Terry’s 100x2 and 140 scores.

Meeting at the QB Legion, the Morningstar Triples and the QB Legion Shooters met at the oche for their match. The home team had many high scores, with Captain Leslie Rodgers pinning most – 117, 120 and 131. High scores aside, the Triples were bested in all five sets by their opponents. Leading the wins for the Shooters was a three-way tie between Captain Lorraine Paquette, Lee Page and Thom Ford, who were undefeated in all five of their singles. Lee Page topped the scores with a couple of 140’s in the same game and 123 and 100x3.

Two Eagles teams met at their joint home venue for a thrilling neck and neck match on Tuesday night. The Eagles Hall Straight Arrows were home to the Eagles Hall Double Eagles away, with six players on each team. The Double Eagles started off slow in the doubles matches, but snuck ahead of the Straight Arrows in the first three sets. The match was tied game for game at the start of the final set, when Karen Bannister, Captain Toni Crompton and Sue Barry clinched the majority of wins for the final set, way to go ladies! Topping the score for both teams, as well as the League high score of the week, was a 153 for Straight Arrows’ Captain Sonja Twamley and Double Eagle Alan Barry. Mike Beno of the Straight Arrows was 100% on his doubles and hit scores of 133 and 100 along the way to the wins.
Final score Eagles Hall Straight Arrows 16 – Eagles Hall Double Eagles 17

Filling up the rest of the dart boards at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall X-Men welcomed the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls to the toe-line for a set of doubles and six singles sets. Besting the home team in the doubles, the Respect-A-Bulls then put themselves well in front of the X-Men by the time they reached the final set. A final push by the X-Men in the final set was still not enough to overtake their opponents. Leading the wins for the Respect-A-Bulls, Tom Ayley, returned from vacation to win all five of his five singles sets. Mat Shaw topped the team scores with a 122 and two 118’s. Two of the five X-Men, Glen Dilworth and Pony Moore, doubled out four of their six matches and Glen hit high scores of 133, 104 and 100, to top the scores for the team.

For the third week in a row, illness postponed another dart match, this week between the QB Legion Short Sighted Crew and the Parksville Legion Dart Legends. This means that there are now four matches to be played to bring the league stats up to date.
