Week Seven Dart Highlights

For the first time in a month, all ten teams were playing darts this past Tuesday night. Hopefully, everyone can now get caught up on the postponed matches.

Playing at their home venue, the Parksville Legion Dart Legends welcomed the Eagles Hall Double Eagles to join them at the toe-line.  Taking two of the doubles, the home team seemed to be off to a good start, but reality set in during the first set of singles, when Captain Jolene Swanson won the only match of the set.  The Double Eagles played well and ended the match with a whitewash in the final set.  Leading the wins for the Double Eagles, spare Arless McNeill came out of retirement to fill up the ranks and bested all his opponents.  Captain Toni Crompton topped the team scores with a 125.  Leading the home team wins, Dart Legend Rod Swindells won four of his five matches and pinned a 140 to top the scoreboard.

Getting together at the QB Legion, the Short Sighted Crew hosted the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls to thirty-three games of darts.  The lead alternated with both teams taking turns dominating from set to set.  The Respect-A-Bulls had a solid lead at the start of the final set, when the home team Crew dug deep and doubled out all five matches.  Leading the wins for the Bulls, Joltin’ Joe Fortune lost his sixth and final match of the night to Crew member, Jo Metz. Captain Anita Hopps topped the scores with a 140.  Crew member Peter Bisiker lost only to Joe Fortune in his six matches of the night, taking a 71-out along the way. Captain Don Punter topped the scores with a 127 in his final match.

Playing on familiar boards, two Eagles Hall teams got together for a fun night of darts. Taking the lead with first set, playing as the away team, the Straight Arrows bested the home team, Eagle Eyes, in all singles sets.  Leading the wins for the Arrows was a tie between Ron Keast and Poul Reimer, both landing undefeated at the end of the match. Mike Beno won four of his five matches, with scores of 103, 121 and 133.  Leading the wins for the home team, Eagle Eye John Coulter was successful in three of his six singles matches.  Team top score – 140 – was accomplished by Captain Harry Van Heerwaarden and Heath Mahoney.

Filling up the boards at the Parksville Legion, the Bristle Bashers met with the QB Legion Shooters for a rousing night of darts.  Fast paced and high scores aplenty, both teams battled for the win.  The lead switched back and forth with each set, with the Shooters heading into the final set well ahead of the home team.  A final push by the Bashers brought their points up to 16, just one shy to win the match.  Leading the wins for the Bashers, Ken Hayes was unstoppable at the oche against all five of his Shooter opponents.  Basher Warren Potter topped the team scores with a 133. Terry Strawson landed his first 180 of the season, adding his name to the Leader Board a second time this season.  Leading the wins for the Shooters, Lee Page lost only to Ken Hayes in his five trips to the toe-line.  Lee also topped the scores for the team by pinning a 140 in his final match of the night.

Playing at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall X-Men welcomed the Morningstar Triples to a fun night of darts.  The X-Men came out of the gate strong, winning all three doubles matches.  Their opponents pushed back and pulled into the lead by the start of the fourth set (third singles set).  The X-Men flexed their muscles and superpowers and landed back in the lead, only to have it yanked away again when the Triples won four of the five singles games in the sixth set. The final set was nearly a whitewash for the Triples and put the home team back in the lead.  X-Men Captain Todd Burnham was the top player for the team, hitting the double first in five of his six matches.  Fraser Vincent and Duane Sharp both shot a 112 to top the scores for their team.   Leading the wins for the Triples, Darren Tabler, was almost unstoppable, losing only one match in five to Todd in the final set of the night.  Captain Leslie Rodgers pinned a 135 against her X-Men opponent in the tie-breaking final match of the night, but was unable to double out before Duane.
