The league lost an icon this past week. Long time player, past president and dart aficionado, Noella (Hopps) Ross lost her battle with lung cancer.
Our heartfelt sympathies to the family, particularly her sister, Lorraine Paquette and her daughter, Anita Hopps.
A memorial service will be held at the Parksville Legion on Friday, November 29th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

Two QB Legion teams met at their home venue, Morningstar Triples played home to the Short Sighted Crew’s away. Taking the lead early, the Crew added to their lead in all but one set of singles. Crew member, Peter Bisiker, was undefeated in his six singles matches, with Captain Don Punter taking out four matches. Kevin Martin topped the scores pinning a 132 in his winning match against Triple’s Denise Tabler. Morningstar Triples’ Jim Hood lost only to Peter in his five trips to the oche. He and Denise shared the top score limelight of 140.

Over at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall X-Men hosted the Bristle Bashers to a fast-paced match of darts on Tuesday night. The Bristle Bashers demonstrated why they are the top team in the league, besting their opponents in ever set. Leading the wins for the Bashers, Ken Hayes, was unbeatable in all five of his single sets. Basher Terry Strawson topped the team scores with a 140 and reinforced his No. 2 spot on the leader board Men’s High Out, pinning a 116 in his match against X-Men Fraser Vincent. Leading the wins for the X-Men’s Captain, Todd Burnham, pulled in four wins in six singles. Todd also topped the team scores with a 140 in his winning match against Steve Collins.

Playing at the Parksville Legion, the Dart Legends welcomed the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows to a nail-biting match of darts. Dart Legend Kevin Gillingham was out with injuries, but showed up to chalk and watch his team come the closest to a win this season. The Legends started off strong and were well in the lead until the fifth set when Captain Jolene Swanson was the only point maker that set. The Straight Arrows rallied in the last two sets and it was even steven by the final match of the game. Both players were struggling to double out when Straight Arrow Captain, Sonja Twamley pinned a double ahead of Dart Legend Dave Edwards. Straight Arrow, Mike Beno, won four of his five matches and Ron Keast topped the scores with a 130 in his final match of the night. Dart Legends Captain, Jolene Swanson, was on fire with her darts, hitting good scores and doubling out five of her six matches. Ken Ermantrout shot a 110 to top the scores for the Legends.

Playing at the QB Legion, the Shooters hosted the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes to thirty-three games of darts. The Eagle Eyes started off well, besting the Shooters in two of the three doubles, however, that success didn’t remain once the singles matches began. Leading the wins for the home-team Shooters, Lee Page went six for six with both Larry McDonald and Thom Ford adding five wins each to the nights’ total. Lee also hit 140x2 and 100x3 to top the scores for the Shooters. Heath Mahoney and John Coulter of the Eagle Eyes both managed to pull two wins each away from their opponents. Heath hit a 135 in his winning match against Rocky Paquette to top the scores for the team.

Filling up the boards at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall Double Eagles welcomed the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls to a night of chucking arrows. The match was even through to the fourth set, when the Respect-A-Bulls had a winning burst for three of the last four sets, putting them well in the lead by the end of the match. Topping the scores for the Bulls, brothers Matt and Rob Shaw both won five of their six singles matches. Matt hit a 133 in his doubles match, and Tom Ayley joined him with a 133 of his own, to top the team scores for the night. Leading the wins for the Double Eagles, Captain Toni Crompton and teammate, Pat Bannister, each brought three wins in five matches. Pat also pinned the highest team score of 126. Alan Barry leapt onto the Leader Board with a High Out of 120, ousting Terry Strawson from the number two spot on the list.
