Meeting at the Eagles Hall, the Straight Arrows hosted the Bristle Bashers to thirty-three games of darts.  The Bristle Bashers started strong in the doubles, taking two out of three, and kept up the pressure for the remaining thirty singles matches.  Looking at the scoresheet doesn’t tell the likely story of both teams playing well with one team hitting the doubles first in all but four matches.  Knowing how strong the Straight Arrow players are, I’m sure they gave the Bashers a run for their money despite the final score.  Mike Beno of the Arrows successfully finished in four of his five singles and Captain Sonja Twamley catapulted onto the Leader Board with the Women’s High Score of 171!  It will be tough for the rest of the women of the league to top that score. Way to go Sonja!  Bristle Bashers’ Terry Strawson doubled out a 103 to land in the Men’s High Out top spot of the season and Steve Collins joined X-Men Glen Dilworth with a high out of 92.

A few blocks away, at the Parksville Legion, the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls welcomed the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes to join them at the oche.  The Eagle Eyes started out well, taking two of three doubles and dominating the first set of singles.  But the tables turned in favour of the home team as they progressed throughout the match.  Leading the wins for the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls, Joltin’ Joe Fortune was undefeated in five singles matches.  Tom Ayley topped the team score for the night with a 124.  Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, Captain Harry Van Heerwaarden showed his team how to win in three of his five singles.  Newcomer Eagle Eye, Heath Mahoney, topped the scores with a 125 in his first match of the night.

Although both captains are seasoned league players, they experienced a teachable moment when Harry realized that the scores were incorrectly recorded and he’d already signed off on the sheet.  After further inspection of the sheet, the original score was ultimately correct, the problem was that the individual scores for both teams were incorrect.  Please Captains, take a few minutes at the end of every match to confirm that all players scores are correct, THEN sign off on it.  Don’t make me pull out my red pen and make corrections…lol

Cozying up to toe-line at the Eagles Hall, the late entry Double Eagles hosted the QB Legion Shooters for a fun, fast-paced night of darts.  The Shooters pushed the Double Eagles to play their best but, despite their efforts, came up a bit short at the end of the night.  Leading the wins for the home team, Captain Toni Crompton pulled three wins in five from the dominating Shooters.  Topping the DE’s score for the night, Alan Barry pinned a 133.  Leading the wins for the Shooters, Lee Page, left the venue undefeated at the end of the night, taking the top score of 140 with him as well.

Ooooohing and Aaaaahing over the new ring lights at the QB Legion, the Morningstar Triples welcomed the Parksville Legion Dart Legends to a fun, LED lit evening of darts.  Leading the wins for the home team, Captain Leslie Rodgers and Jim Hood doubled out first in four of their five matches.  Jim topped he scoreboard with a 133 in his first singles match of the night.  Getting together as a team for the first time, the Legion Dart Legends introduced themselves and prepared to get to know one another for the season.  Leading the wins for the Legends, Donna Ermantrout and Legend spare, Brad Uytterhagen, both bested their opponents in four of five singles.  With multiple high scores shot throughout the match, Legend Rod Swindells topped the scores with a 140.

Opting to remove the ring lights at the QB Legion, the Short Sighted Crew hosted the Eagles Hall X-Men to an LED-free night of darts.  The Jim Thompon fortified X-Men flexed their muscles and dominated all but one singles set throughout the night.  Leading the wins for the Men, the aforementioned Jim and Rob Sparrow doubled out all but one match in six.  Jim topped the scores for the evening with a 123, 118 & a 100, while Glen Dilworth doubled out a 92 again this week.   Leading the wins for the home team, Crew member, Peter Bisiker bested four of six Men during the evening match.  In doing so, Peter pinned scores of 140 and 100x2 to top the team scores for the night.
