As we get to the end of September, the Parksville Legion is still in renovation-mode necessitating the need to extend the two-nights per week schedule until the middle of October at the earliest.  The updated schedule is online, but if you are in possession of a paper copy, the columns are divided all the way down to help you know which night your team is playing at the Eagles.  Once again, a huge thank you to the Eagles Hall for accommodating us for the duration of the Legion repairs.

Playing on the Tuesday night, the Deep Bay Consulting Oceanside Triples hosted the Eagles Hall Double Eagles to a rousing match of darts.  The Double Eagles started the match with two doubles wins before dominating every set but the last against their opponents.  Leading the wins for the Double Eagles, Pat Bannister was undefeated in his five singles sets and popped in a 53 check out along the way.  Team mate Alan Barry won three of his five singles and topped the team scores with a 114 in his match against newcomer (to our league), Jim McArthur.  It was a three-way tie for the top wins for the Oceanside Triples, Keith Reimer, Darren Tabler and Jim McArthur each pinned a double before three of their six opponents.  Dynamo Denise Tabler drilled in the team top score of 140 in her unsuccessful attempt to best Double Eagle Colleen McNeill.

Final score Deep Bay Cons. Oceanside Triples – 13, Eagles Hall Double Eagles – 20

Filling up the remaining boards at the Eagles last Tuesday, the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows hosted the His & Hers Salon Darts of Hazzard to a spirited thirty-three games of darts.  The deciding win for the home team came early in the match when they won two of the three doubles matches.  After the doubles matches, the singles were a ping-pong back and forth of wins for both teams, each garnering 15 of the 30 matches.  Leading the wins for the Straight Arrows, Rob Clark proved to be impossible to beat in all five of his singles games.   Poul Reimer contributed four wins in five games as well as hitting a team-topping score of 133 in his match against Hazardous Heath Mahoney.  Darts of Hazzard’s Brody Jenkinson topped the wins for his team, losing only to Rob Clark in his five singles matches.  Captain Harry Vanheerwaarden, John Coulter and Heath Mahoney brought three wins each to the final tally, while Heath hit a team high score of 132 in his winning match against Arrow Shane Ovington.

Wednesday night at the Eagles, the Roto Maxx Renegades hosted the French Creek Pub Dart Vaders and suffered their narrowest margin win to date.  Led by the scoring prowess of Terry Strawson and Larry MacDonald, who were unvanquished in all five of their singles games, the Renegades ran roughshod over the Dart Vaders, besting them in all but one set.  Larry’s name was added to the Leader Board with a high-out of 105 in his match against Dart Vader’s Steve Collins.  Thom Ford has made his season first mark on the Leader Board this week, achieving the first Men’s High Score of 165 to get that list started.  After scoring 165, Thom then added a 156 (also Leader Board worthy) in the same match against Steve Collins.  Leading the wins for the French Creek Pub Dart Vaders, Ken Hays won three of his five singles and pinned a 140 in his winning match against the formidable Thom Ford.  Steve Collins and Donna Ermantrout contributed two wins each to the team total for the night.

Final score Roto Maxx Renegades – 24, French Creek Pub Dart Vaders – 9

Filling up the boards and the line at the bar, the Eagles Hall X-Men hosted the Bashers on Wednesday night at the Eagles.  It was a five-against-five night, so while the first and last sets were identical in pairing, they were the opposite in wins.  The first set the Bashers showed the X-Men the double four of the five games, while the final set of the night the X-Men won four matches to the Basher’s one.  Leading the wins for the X-Men, Captain Todd Burnham lost only to Basher Harry Ross in six singles games, pinning the team top score of 133 in both his games against Harry Ross. Team mates Pony Moore and Jim Thompson each brought four wins in six games to the team tally.  Leading the wins for the Bashers, Tom Ayley was top of the heap with four wins in six matches.  Fellow Basher Rob Shaw topped the team scores with a 134 in his winning match against X-Men’s Rob Sparrow, one of three games he double out first.

Final score Eagles Hall X-Men – 20, The Bashers – 13
