Still playing two nights a week at the Eagles, the schedule continues split between Tuesdays and Wednesdays, until further notice. The Executive are in constant contact with the Parksville Legion, updated weekly on the renovation progress there.  When they have an affirmed date of opening, all team captains will be contacted personally to advise of the change.  Until then, let’s avoid the spread of rumours and not gossip about false information.  Once again, we thank the Eagles Hall for steadfastly supporting the dart league.

Starting off the fifth week of play, the Short Sighted Crew hosted The Bashers to a fun night of darts.  Taking the lead early, the home team Crew won all three doubles matches and nine of the first ten singles games before The Bashers found their groove and produce a comeback.  Unfortunately, it was a bit too late to overtake their opponents and the home team ended the victors.  Leading the wins for the Crew, Peter Bisiker lost only to one of his six opponents, Basher’s Anita Hopps.  Captain Don Punter contributed four wins in six games and tied with Peter for team high score – 171.  Mike Runsteadler almost made the Leader Board, hitting a 72 out in one of his three wins.  Leading the wins for The Bashers, Captain Don Enockson held his own in four of five singles matches, with solid support of three wins each from Tom Ayley, Rob Shaw and Anita Hopps.  Anita topped the scores with a 140, 121 and a 117.

Filling up the rest of the boards on Tuesday night, the Deep Bay Consulting Oceanside Triples hosted the His & Hers Salon Darts of Hazzard to a riveting night of darts.  Coming out strong in the doubles, the home team won all three and the first two singles games before the Darts of Hazzard found their mojo and were in a one-point lead by the end of the third set.  The home team rallied, gave it their best in the remaining sets, but were unable to overtake that one point lead by the end of the match.  Triples’ Mike Blouin topped the scores with a 138. Hazardous Heath Mahoney and Babes “The Bomb” Coulter topped the Hazzards score board, both winning four of their five matches.   Babes also topped the team scores with a 133 in her winning match against Triples’ Keith Reimer.

Playing on the Wednesday night, the Eagles Hall Double Eagles hosted the Eagles Hall X-Men to 33 games of darts.  The match was even up until the third singles set when the X-Men produced a whitewash set of five to zero.  The home team didn’t recover from that, limping to the finish line with half the points of their opponents.  Leading the wins for the X-Men, late to the party Fraser Vincent, won five of his six first matches of the season.  Solid support of four wins in six came from X-Men Craig Dempsey, Rob Sparrow and Pony Moore.  Pony also topped the scores for the team, pinning a 140 in the winning doubles match with partner, Rob Sparrow.  Double Eagle’s Will Crompton bested four of his five formidable opponents, losing only to Craig Dempsey.  Team mate Sue Barry popped in an impressive 131 in her winning match against Craig.

Final score Eagles Hall Double Eagles - 11, Eagles Hall X-Men – 22

The fourth match of the week matched the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows against as yet undefeated Rotor Maxx Renegades.  Giving it their all, the Straight Arrows showed the Renegades their smallest margin win to date.  With Captain Lorraine Paquette off the roster, the five remaining Renegades showed solidarity in wins by all winning four of six matches.  Renegade Thom Ford rose from third to top spot on the Men’s High Out, sticking a league high out of 120 in his match against Straight Arrow’s Roy Neill.  Larry MacDonald shared team high score of 140 with two-time 140 scorer, Terry Strawson.  Leading the wins for the Straight Arrows, Mike Beno lost only to Larry Mac and pined a 75 out in one of his four winning matches. Team mate Poul Reimer topped the team scores with a 134 in his winning match against Renegade Rocky Paquette.
