Week Eleven Snow Day Dart Action



The Parksville Legion Shooters welcomed the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows to a fun, fast-paced night of darts. Taking the lead early, the home team Shooters dominated the wins in the first five sets of the night. Shooter George Wallis took the top wins for the team, proving unbeatable in all six of his singles games. Rocky Paquette topped the high scores with a 140. Leading the wins for the away team, Arrow’s Ron Keast and Mike Beno, each brought four wins to the team total. Topping the scores, spare Don McIlhargey hit a 129, along with a 105 and 100x2.

Final score Shooters 20 – Straight Arrows 13.

Breaking in the new board at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes met with the Cascadia Bristle Bashers for a thrilling night of darts. Taking the lead early, the Eagle Eyes maintained their lead through to the final set of darts. Harry Vanheerwaarden mastered the double-out in his match against Basher Warren Potter, to secure the win for the Eagle Eyes. Tedd Ducker and Richard Rempel both won four of their five singles matches, with Ted topping the scores with a 120. Leading the wins for the Bristle Bashers, Steve Collins, was undefeated at the end of his five singles games, as well as hitting a high scoe of 134, edging out Warren Potter – who shot 133 twice! Steve threw a perfect score in his match against Richard Rempel, securing a huge lead and a sure win. Congratulations Steve!

Final score Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes 17 – Cascadia Bristle Bashers 16.

Also closely matched throughout seven sets of darts, the San Group Wood Chuckers and the Toolshed Triples duked it out over at the Qualicum Beach Legion on Tuesday night. Despite a commanding lead after the first three sets, the Chuckers started slipping and the Triples lead the wins for the last four sets. League No. 1 male player, Jim Thompson, showed his prowess in doubling out in all five of his singles games. Captain Angie Kienas, Kelly Kovacs and Anita Hopps all brought three wins apiece to the final score of the night. Topping the scores, Jim shot 100x2, 123, 126, 137 before finishing the night by picking a perfect score – congratulations Jim on your third 180 of the season! Leading the wins for the Toolshed Triples, four of the six member team all brought three wins to the score – good darts Jim Hood, Denise Tabler, Keith Reimer and spare Wendy Haines! Jim Hood shot the team high score of 140.

Final score San Group Wood Chuckers 17 – Toolshed Triples 16.

The Parksville Legion B-Sharps met with the Qualicum Beach Legion Bulls Hitters at Branch 49 Legion. The home team B-Sharps set the pace early, maintaining their lead over the Bulls Hitters through to the end of the 33rd game of the night. Super Stan Foster missed only one finish in his match against Hitter Peter Spinks. B-Sharp Andy Burton hit a 140 to top the team scores for the night. Bulls Hitter Ryan Fortune won four of his five matches and Bernie Brockway and Ray Jones both shot a 140 to top the high scores for the night. Final score B-Sharps 19 – Bulls Hitters 14.

Also playing at the Eagles Hall, the X-Men welcomed the Short Sighted Crew to thirty-three fun and fast-paced games of darts. The teams were evenly matched until the half-way mark, when the Crew scooped four wins to their credit in the fifth set. Rallying, the X-Men whitewashed the Crew in the sixth set. A final push from the Crew in the last set, brought the scores closer together, but Pony Moore’s win against Steve Eckhart was the one point the X-Men needed to win the match. X-Men Glenn Dilworth shot a 140 to top the scores. Leading the wins for the Short Sighted Crew, Peter Bisiker was undefeated in five of his six matches, supported by Don Punter’s four wins. Peter also shot team high score of 140x2, 100x4. Final score Eagles Hall X-Men 17 – Short Sighted Crew 16.
