Week Eight Highlights


Locking horns at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Bulls Hitters and the Short Sighted Crew, met for 33 spirited games of darts. Leaping out of the gate, the Crew took eleven of the first twelve singles games, rattling their opponents to the core. Sighted Crew 19 - Qualicum Beach Legion Bulls Hitters 14. Leading the wins for the Crew, Don Punter was almost unstoppable with five wins in six games, and was backed up by Peter Bisiker and Steven Eckhart, each bringing four wins to the tally. Peter was team high scorer, hitting a 140. Top wins for the Bulls Hitter, was Joe Fortune with three wins in five matches, and Captain Peter Spinks hit the team high score of 146 in his first win of the night.

Taking a beating at the Eagles Hall, the home team X-Men were off their game Tuesday night against the league leaders, the Parksville Legion Shooters. The away team came on strong, winning all three doubles matches, followed by a whitewash in the two final sets of singles. Four of the five team members won five of their six singles games, with George Wallis hitting a 140 and Lorraine Hopps checking out a 100. The seven X-Men struggled to gain a foothold in the match, with Glen Dilworth and Pony Moore taking two matches each as top wins. X-Men Rob Sparrow hit the team high score of 133. Final score Shooters 25 – X-Men 8.

Playing at the Parksville Legion, the Parksville Legion B-Sharps invited the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows to a night of darts. The away team took the lead early on, keeping the pressure up until the end of the night. A last set push by the Straight Arrows, taking four wins, was enough to overtake their opposition, final score Straight Arrows 18 – B-Sharps 15. Leading the scores for the Arrows, Ron Keast, John Curtis and Mike Beno, all brought four wins in five matches. Mike had the team high score of 133 and Ron took a 100 check-out. Not for lack of trying, the B-Sharps gave it their all, Stan Foster leading the points with four wins in five matches. Arless McNeill shot an impressive 160 to put himself on the leaderboard. Way to go Arless!!

The Qualicum Beach Legion was the stage for the San Group Wood Chuckers vs. the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes on Tuesday night. Taking all three of the doubles, as well as the lead in the first two sets of singles, the away Eagle Eyes maintained their lead through to the end of the night. Eagle Eyes Richard Rempel and Tedd Ducker won four of their five matches, and both topped the scores with a 125 each. Leading the wins for the home team, Jim Thompson, Barb Marsh and Kelly Kovacs tied with three wins each. Kelly topped the scores with a 140, 135, and 100. Final score Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes 19 – San Group Wood Chuckers 14.

Back at the Eagles Hall, the Toolshed Triples hosted the Cascadia Bristle Bashers to a massive win for the away team. Five of the six Bashers won all but one of their five matches, with Bristle Basher Steve Collins and Terry Strawson topping the high scores with a 125. Leading the wins for the home team, Triple Jim Hood took three points away from the other team, beating Don Enockson, Steve Collins, and Terry Strawson to the double out. Jim also took team high score of 112. Final score Cascadia Bristle Bashers 25 – Toolshed Triples 8.
