Fresh off a bye, the Renegades were playing at their home venue for the first time this season against their worthy adversaries, the Darts of Hazzard. Taking two of the doubles from the Renegades, it looked like the Hazzards were off to a great start, but skill prevailed as the Renegades proceeded to win all but one of the six singles sets. Fair play to the Hazzards though, they put up a good fight. Leading the wins for the Renegades was a four way tie between Thom Ford, Rocky Paquette, George Wallis and Larry MacDonald, each winning four of their five singles games. Terry Strawson had an uncharacteristic off night, adding only two wins in five to the total score, but he did place himself in the No. 2 spot of the Men’s High Scores on the Leader Board, landing a 171 in his winning match against Babes Coulter. Leading the wins for the Hazzards, Heath Mahoney bested four of his six opponents – no small feat to be sure – and pinned the team high score – 136 – in his winning match against Terry Strawson. Captain Harry Vanheerwaarden almost made an entry on to the Leader Board with a 76 out in his match against Larry MacDonald, keep it up Harry, you are almost there!
Final score Roto Maxx Renegades – 21, His & Hers Salon Darts of Hazzard – 12

Over at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall X-Men welcomed the French Creek Pub Dart Vaders to a surprise walloping at the oche. The home team was down in wins at the start of the second singles set when they produced two 4-1 near whitewashes in a row, stumbled a little in the fourth (3-2 wins) before repeating the 4-1 wins for the final two singles sets. Leading the wins for the X-Men, Captain Todd Burnham and Fraser Vincent were both undefeated in five turns at the toe line. Craig Dempsey supported the victory with four wins in five and Glen Dilworth pinned a 131 in one of his three winning matches. Fraser also joined a long list of Men’s High Out, pinning an 84 out – with a double bull no less – in his match against Vader Donna Ermantrout. Playing without team mate Ken Hayes for the past five weeks, the five remaining Vaders gave it there all against the X-Men. Steve Collins bested four of his six opponents, pinned the most high scores – 100, 117 & 133, and no doubt felt pretty special about his accomplishments. Good job Steve!
Final score Eagles Hall X-Men – 22, French Creek Pub Dart Vaders – 11

Filling up the rest of the boards at the Eagles Hall, the home team Double Eagles hosted the Parksville Legion’s Short Sighted Crew to thirty-three games of SIDO 501. After a Crew whitewash in the doubles games, the home team bested them in the first two of six singles sets, before the Crew found their footing and dominated the rest of the match. Leading the wins for the Short Sighted Crew, Peter Bisiker produced five wins in five, with Mike Runsteadler contributing four wins to the score. Jeff Rhode pinned the most, and highest, scores for the team hitting a 100, 123 and 139 on his journey to three wins. Leading the wins for the Double Eagles, Alan Barry and Karen Bannister both brought three wins in five singles games to the match total. Team mate, Sue Barry hit the only recorded team score over 99 of the night, landing a 124 in her unsuccessful match against Crew’s Kevin (even a blind squirrel gets the occasional nut) Martin.
Final score Eagles Hall Double Eagles – 12, Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew – 21

Back at the Parksville Legion, the Bashers and the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows faced each other on the oche in a closely matched night of darts. Ping-ponging wins back and forth between both teams left both at 14 wins apiece by the end of the fifth singles set. Mustering their best skills, the Arrows landed a whopping four wins in the final five games of the night, emerging victorious over their formidable foe. Leading the wins for the Arrows, Ron Keast and Roy Neill lost only one of their five singles games, with support from Mike Beno’s three wins of his own to the final score. Arrow Rob Clark pinned a team-topping score of 129 in his winning match against Basher’s Michelle Gummeson. Basher Rob Shaw was unstoppable with the doubles, besting five Straight Arrows in five singles. Team mate Joe Fortune added three wins and a notable score of 117 to the nights’ stats. Harry Ross topped the scores with a 100 and a 140.
Final score The Bashers – 15, Eagles Hall Straight Arrows – 18
