Week 9 Dart Action

Meeting at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the home team – Qualicum Beach Legion Bulls Hitters – hosted the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes to a closely matched night of darts. The teams were winning match for match until the final set when the Hitters' three wins put them one point ahead at the end of the night. Leading the wins for the Hitters, Bernie Brockway doubled out four of his five matches, followed by three wins for Barb Marsh, who also shot a 132. High scorer, Ray Jones, shot a 140. Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, Tedd Ducker bested five of his six opponents, with solid scores of 100 throughout the night. Skyrocketing his way to the top of the Leader Board, Harry Vanheerwaarden hit a 174 early in the night. Edging his way up the board, Alan Barry topped his 143 initial entry with a 162. Great darts!

Maintaining their stay at the top of the standings, the Parksville Legion Shooters trounced the Toolshed Triples at the Parksville Legion Tuesday night. Leading the wins for the Shooters was a two-way tie between Captain Lloyd Ausland and George Wallis, both unbeatable in all five of their matches. Team high score goes to Lloyd Ausland, who started off his night with a 145 during the doubles and followed up with scores of 137, 125, 121 and 100. El fuego!! Leading the wins for the Triples, Jim Hood pulled two wins from the Shooters. High score for the Triples went to Darrin Tabler, with a 124. Final score Shooters 27 – Triples 6.

Also playing at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Short Sighted Crew hosted the Cascadia Bristle Bashers to 33 exciting games of darts. Taking the lead early, the Bristle Bashers kept well ahead of the Crew until the last set, when the Crew snatched four wins from the Bashers, leaving the Bashers with a 20 to 13 win in the end. Leading the wins for the away team, Warren Potter was unbeatable in all five of his matches, followed by Dustin Fee’s four wins in five matches. Basher’s high score was a 125, hit twice by Steve Collins. Leading the wins for the Crew, Men’s #2 player Lee Page doubled out in all but one of his five matches clocking scores of 125 x3, 121, and 100x2. High score for the Crew was a 131, shot by Don Punter.

Over at the Eagles Hall, the Straight Arrows welcomed the Qualicum Beach Legion’s B-Sharps to a nail-biting night of darts. Evenly matched for the first three sets, the Straight Arrows took the fourth and fifth set 4 to 1. The B-Sharps rallied and took the final set 4 to 1, leaving a final score of 18 to 15 for the home team. The Arrows’ John Curtis lead the wins for the Arrows – making five of his six matches a success at the oche, followed by four wins for Captain Sonja Twamley and Mike Beno, who topped the scores with a 160 and landed a spot on the Leader Board – NICE DARTS!
