Week 8 Highlights



The Comfort Group X-Men brought their A-game to the Qualicum Legion to play the Qualicum Beach Legion B-Sharps. The B-Sharps started strong but soon fell to the charms of the X-Men. Leading the wins for the X-Men for the second week in a row, Glenn Dilworth was unstoppable on Tuesday night, winning all five of his matches, followed by Steve Steward, Dave Wishlow and Todd Burnham, each winning four of their five matches. High scorer for the X-Men was Rob Sparrow with a blistering 162!


Leading the B-Sharps in wins, Captain Colleen McNeill showed her team how it is done. Colleen doubled out three of her six matches and scored a phenomenal 165 – putting her in the Number One spot for women’s high score for the season. Bolstering their captain, Betty Ann Moffatt and Arless McNeill each won two of their six matches. Final score Comfort Group X-Men 24 – B-Sharps 9

Also playing at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Bulls Hitters hosted the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows at their home venue. After a shaky start, the Bulls Hitters gathered their skills and shut out the Arrows in two straight sets, on their way to a win – 21 to 12. Most wins for the Hitters was a three-way tie between Barb Marsh, Colin Adams and Ray Jones – each winning five of six matches. High scorer for the Hitters, Colin produced scores of 100, 128 and 137. The Straight Arrows John Curtis and Mike Beno won 50% of their matches and Mike also tossed the team high score of 117.

The lights were on again at the Eagles Hall, allowing the Eagle Eyes to host the Short Sighted Crew to 33 games of darts. Both teams were fairly evenly matched throughout the night, with a final push by the Short Sighted Crew bringing their final score to 16, one point less than the Eagle Eye’s 17. High scorer for the Eagle Eyes was a tie between Captain Mike McNulty and Tedd Ducker, each winning five of their six matches. High scorer for the Eagle Eyes, Alan Barry landed himself on the Leader Board with his score of 143. Short Sighted Crew’s Don Punter lead the team in wins, doubling out five of his six games. High scorer for the Crew, Darren Fields hit a 140 in the final match of the night. Ernie Berrow was most prolific high scores with scores of 109 and 138.

Coming off a long break, the Cascadia Bristle Bashers hosted the Toolshed Triples at the Parksville Legion. The Triples were no match for the second-place team, but managed to take seven matches from the Cascadia Bristle Bashers by the end of the night. Leading the wins for the Bashers – Steve Collins, Warren Potter and Noella Ross – won 100% of their matches. Steve Collins shot two 135’s to attain the High Score of the match. Newcomer, Tom Rodgers, and Jim Hood lead the wins for the Triples with two apiece. Jim had team High Score of 125.
