As the season shifts back to its normal one night a week schedule, we thank the Eagles one final time for the use of their venue on an additional night each of the last eight weeks.  First looks at the Parksville Legion appear very much the same, however, walking into the dart area/hall shows the magnificent new flooring, subtle shades of blue gray and sand.  Temporary toe-lines were in place, with the laser-generated markings on the floor still showing.  Play well in this renovated space, and no, the boards aren’t closer together, despite what Karen says.  😊

Playing over at the Eagles, the Darts of Hazzard hosted The Bashers to a thrilling match of darts.  Despite having a 12-6 advantage over the Darts of Hazzard by mid-match, The Bashers had to keep up the pressure through to the end of match as the home team Hazzards fought hard to gain momentum over their opponents.  Leading the wins for The Bashers was a four-way tie for Joe Fortune, Harry Ross, Rob Shaw and Michelle Gummeson, each bringing three wins in five singles games.  Rob Shaw peppered in several high scores throughout the night – 100x2, 121 and 125 – to top the scores for the team.  Leading the wins for the Darts of Hazzard, John Coulter defeated four of his five opponents and topped the team scores with a 117 in his winning match against Basher Joe Fortune.  Team mate Brody Jenkinson delivered three wins in five games and was one of three Hazzards to hit a 100.

Final score His & Hers Salon Darts of Hazzard – 14, The Bashers – 19

Filling up the rest of the boards at the Eagles Hall, Eagles Hall X-Men showed up without team mate Jim Thompson.  Jim has permanently resigned from the league as he is moving to the lower mainland.  We will miss you Jim and wish you all the best for your next adventure.  Now five strong, the remaining X-Men dominated their opponents, the Deep Bay Consulting Oceanside Triples, from the get-go.  Leading the wins for the X-Men, Glen Dilworth, defeated all but one of his six rivals.  Team mates, Captain Todd Burnham and Fraser Vincent added four wins in six games to the final team total.  Todd also topped the scores with a 152, adding his name to the Leader Board, in his winning match against Triple’s Mike Blouin.  Pony Moore landed himself on the Leader Board with an 84 check out against Triple’s Denise Tabler. Leading the wins for the Triples, Jim McArthur and Keith Reimer, managed to win three out of five singles.  Denise pinned a 140 in her match against Fraser Vincent, but failed to double out first despite this substantial score.

Final score Eagles Hall X-Men – 21, Deep Bay Consulting Oceanside Triples – 12

Stepping up to the oche on the first night at the Parksville Legion, the Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew welcomed the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows to thirty-three games of darts.   The short-staffed Crew, quickly succumbed to the six-man strong Straight Arrows’ prowess.  Leading the scores for the Arrows, Rob Clark, proved unbeatable in his five singles matches.  Rob also earned his second Leader Board worthy score of a 93 check out, but it wasn’t enough to best his existing second place standing of 118.  Better luck next time Rob.  Straight Arrow Mike Beno was experiencing an uncharacteristic off night, winning only two of his five matches, but he did top the scores for the team with a 130 in his winning match against Crew member, Mike Runsteadler.  Leading the wins for the Short Sighted Crew, Peter Bisiker bested four of the six Arrows, with Mike Runsteadler and spare, Jolene Swanson, supporting him with three wins in six games.  Jolene Swanson also hit a two-dart 73 check out in her win against Arrow Poul Reimer, much to everyone’s amazement.  Captain Don Punter struggled to double out in his usual style, but topped the team scores with a 134.

Final score Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew – 12, Eagles Hall Straight Arrows – 21

Squeezing onto the other two boards on the south wall of the Legion, the French Creek Pub Dart Vaders welcomed the Eagles Hall Double Eagles to a closely fought battle of darts.  Taking the lead early, winning four of the first five singles, the Dart Vaders battled to retain that four point advantage for the remaining five singles sets.  Leading the wins for the Vaders, Steve Collins bested five of his six challengers, with Double Eagle’s Karen Bannister foiling his quest for a perfect score.  Three of the four remaining Vaders – Ken and Donna Ermantrout and Rod Swindells – contributed three wins in six singles each. Steve also topped the scores with two 133’s to his credit at the match’s end.  Leading the wins for the Double Eagles, Alan Barry lost only to one of the five Vaders – Steve Collins (obviously) – and topped the team scores with a 111 and 117.   Team mates, Sue Barry and Karen Bannister, produced three double outs in five to the team final score.

Final score French Creek Pub Dart Vaders – 18, Eagles Hall Double Eagles – 15
