Getting ahead of the curve, I’m writing and posting the blog days early instead of days late like last weekend. I’m sure by now, you have all heard that the league is not splitting into two divisions after the 18th week, instead, we play through until Week 26. After Week 26, we will go straight into the Team Round Robin – nine teams playing against each other – should be a blast! Then the four weeks of multi-tournament nights before the AGM and the final big bash of the season – the banquet!
Now on to the week 17 results…
Playing at the Parksville Legion, the Bashers hosted the Darts of Hazzard to a nail-bitingly close match of darts. The Darts of Hazzard’s were un-Harried and Faith-less for the night, so the five remaining members started off by winning all three of the doubles matches and continued to inch forward in wins for the first two singles sets, until the Bashers got the upper flight and led the wins for the remaining four sets. This match was a 16-16 tie as the last two players stepped up to the oche, Harry and Brody held the hopes of their team in every throw, no pressure, I’m sure. Despite Brody hitting team high score for the night – 140 – Harry Ross was the first to double out, and that’s the point of the exercise. Way to bring it home, Harry. Leading the wins for the home team Bashers, Tom Ayley, brought home 5 wins in 6 games and Captain Harry Ross pinned a 140 to achieve top score of the night. Basher Rob Shaw landed himself on the Leader Board for the first time, hitting an 81 out in his winning match against Hazzard’s John Coulter. Congrats Rob! Leading the wins for the Hazzards, Heath Mahoney was victorious in five of his six singles games, hitting scores of 100x2 and 121 along the way.
Final score Bashers – 17, His & Hers Salon Darts of Hazzard – 16

Also playing at the Parksville Legion, the Deep Bay Consulting Oceanside Triples welcomed the Eagles Hall X-Men to a closely scored night of darts. The teams battled back and forth for wins, but a 4-1 set win by the Triples sealed the final outcome for the Triples. Leading the wins for the Triples, Keith Reimer was successful in four of his five trips to the oche. Little Dynamo Denise Tabler pinned team high score of the night – 140 – in her unsuccessful bid to beat X-Men Glen Dilworth. Bet Glen was nervous of the spitfire at the toe-line. The X-Men seemed to be having an off night, no scores over 99 throughout the match is telling me they were having an off night, but they did their best and nearly won the match despite no high scores. Leading the wins for the X-Men, new spare Randy Burrows showed his mettle by winning four of his six singles games, while Glen Dilworth and Craig Dempsey added three points each to the final X-Men tally.
Final score Deep Bay Consulting Oceanside Triples – 17, Eagles Hall X-Men – 16

Playing at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows hosted the Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew to the third neck-and-neck match of the evening. The lead ping-ponged back and forth between two closely matched teams until mid-match, when the Crew had a 4-1 win, putting them tied point for point with the Arrows. Two sets of 3-2 in the Crew’s favour put them 2 points ahead of the home team. A final push by the Arrows narrowed the point spread to one, unfortunately, it was in the Crew’s favour. Good try Arrows, well played match. Leading the wins for the Short Sighted Crew, Jeff Rhode led the charge, winning five of his six singles games. Mike Runsteadler shored up the points with four wins in six and scores of 100x2, 105, 115 & 125, to earn team high score for the match. Leading the wins for the home team, Straight Arrow’s Mike Beno and Poul Reimer both won three of their five singles games, with Poul hitting a 129 to garner team high score for the week.
Final score Eagles Hall Straight Arrows – 16, Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew – 17

Filling up the rest of the boards at the Eagles, the Eagles Hall Double Eagles met with the French Creek Pub Dart Vaders to play thirty-three games of chucking arrows. The Dart Vaders asserted their dominance in the first singles set, handing the Double Eagles the first of two whitewashes, and bested them in every set to follow. Leading the wins for the Vaders, Steve Collins and spare, Ryan Denbigh, were undefeated through five trips to the toe-line. Steve and Ryan also topped the scores, both hitting a 140, but teammate, Warren Potter was most prolific with two 133’s and a 135 over the course of the match. Leading the wins for the Double Eagles, Captain Toni Crompton and Karen Bannister were able to pull two wins each away from the marauding Vaders. Karen also landed at the top of the score board with a 119 in her winning match against Warren Potter, good job Karen!
Final score Eagles Hall Double Eagles – 7, French Creek Pub Dart Vaders – 26
