Two Eagles Hall teams faced off against each other on Tuesday night. The Eagles Hall Double Eagles were the home team to the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes’ away status. The Eagle Eyes demonstrated their prowess in the doubles by winning two of three, but it was the Double Eagles who took over winning from the first singles set onwards. Leading the wins for the Double Eagles was a tie between Arless McNeill, Colleen McNeill and spare, Harry Ross with all three doubling out four of their five singles matches. Captain Toni Crompton topped the scores with a 138 and a 140. Eagle Eye’s John Coulter won double what the rest of the team won, pinning the double first against four of his five opponents. John was also the high scorer for the Eagle Eyes, hitting a 133, but it was a two-dart 78 out by team mate Faith Hamilton-Thorne that got all the chatter after the match.

Filling up the rest of the bars at the Eagles Hall, the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows hosted the QB Legion Short Sighted Crew to a nail-biting thirty-three games of darts. The wins ping-ponged back and forth between the two teams, with the match at a 16-16 tie as the final match began. Straight Arrow Pat Spinks did her best, but was beaten to the double by the Crew’s Mike Runsteader, tipping the match in the Crew’s favour. Spare Jeff Rhode led the wins for the team, proving unbeatable by the Straight Arrows in his six singles matches. Leading the wins for the home team, Mike Beno lost only to Jeff Rhode in his five matches and started the night pinning a 134, team high score, during the doubles match with partner Poul Reimer.

Playing at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Legion Shooters welcomed the PV Legion Respect-A-Bulls to join them at the oche and let the darts fall where they may. The darts fell into the doubles for the Shooters more often than their challengers. Shooters Lee Page and George Wallis were undefeated in their five singles games. Thom Ford added his name to the top spot on the Men’s Leader Board, joining Lee Page in achieving a 177 score in his first singles match of the night against Bull’s Rob Shaw. Leading the wins for the Respect-A-Bulls, Tom Ayley (high score 127) bested three of the Shooters in his six trips to the oche. Spare Darcy Guenette may not have pinned many doubles but he did get a couple noteworthy scores of 104 and 140 to top the scores for the team.

Meeting with the Parksville Legion, the Parksville Legion Dart Legends hosted the Eagles Hall X-Men for one of their few matches outside of the Eagles Hall this season. While the home team Legends were definitely out-matched by their opponents, the few wins the Legends had were sweet. Captain Jolene Swanson and X-Men’s Jim Thompson, reminiscing over Jolene’s win over Jim in October, never imagined that history would repeat itself but a 3-dart double double finish by Jolene recreated that result, much to her amazement. It was one loss and four wins, not only for Jim but for Captain Todd Burnham, Rob Sparrow and Fraser Vincent. Jim topped the scores with a 121 and Rob landed a 94 out to land himself on the Leader Board. Soon to be vacationing Dart Legend, Rod Swindells, and Donna Ermantrout managed to pull two wins each away from their opponents. Dave Edwards hit a 128 in his winning match against Todd to find himself at the top of the scores for the team.

Also playing at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Morningstar Triples faced the top team in the league, the Bristle Bashers, in a one-sided match of darts. The Bashers started beating their opponents by winning all three doubles matches and continued the assault throughout the six sets of singles. Three of the Triples, Captain Leslie Rodgers, Tom Rodgers and Keith Reimer, were able catch their opponents off guard by doubling out first in two of each of their five singles, with Leslie topping the scores by hitting a 138. Bristle Bashers Darrell Jobb, Terry Strawson and Don Enockson were unvanquished at the toe-line in their four matches, with Ken Hayes also pulling in four wins in five matches and producing team high score of 140 in his second 115 out this season. Good to see Terry back and in top form garnering 133x2, 125, and 100x2 scores throughout the night.
