Before I proceed with the weekly dart news, I just want to remind everyone reading that the Christmas Fun Turkey Shoot is next Saturday - December 20th - at the Parksville Legion. Pre-registration is required to fill only 24 spots, with final registration at the venue by 12:45 so games can commence at 1pm sharp. This league member only shoot is a combination of the Turkey Shoot and the Fun Shoot normally held the first Tuesday of the new year and will be our last event of 2025. Please contact me, Jolene, or Pony Moore to pre-register, there are nine spots left as of today (Sunday). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Eagles Hall was the venue that hosted the match between the team with the least points and the team with the most points.  Giving it their best shot, the Eagles Hall Double Eagles bravely stepped up to the oche thirty-three times to face their foe.  The Double Eagles snatched one of the doubles matches and their first singles game before the wins evaporated.  Double Eagle’s Pat Bannister re-started their wins, besting Renegade Lorraine Paquette in the fifth set, hitting the team high score of 132 in the process, and George Wallis in the sixth, way to go Pat! Teammate Will Crompton also bested George, and took a win in his final match of the night against Renegade Thom Ford.  The Renegades had a three-way tie for undefeated with Terry Strawson, Rocky Paquette and Larry MacDonald bringing five wins each to the final score.  Larry was on fire with the trip-twenties, hitting three 140’s during the match, two in his winning game against Pat Bannister.

Final score Eagles Hall Double Eagles – 6, Roto Maxx Renegades – 27

Illness struck the Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew on Tuesday night, three of the regular members called in sick, prompting Captain Don Punter into calling the lone league spare – moi – to play at the Parksville Legion.   Upon my arrival, I learned that there was a new guy in town wanting to spare for his brief time in D69.  I had a chat with him pre-game and he mentioned that he usually goes to the Provincials with his Legion team from Pemberton, I bowed out and let him play.  The Crew played the French Creek Pub Dart Vaders and Ryan, the new league spare (please call Thom Ford for contact info), brought four wins in six singles and a doubles win to the team totals and team high score of 140.  Teammates Peter Bisiker and Jo Metz brought three wins each to the final tally.  Leading the wins for the Dart Vaders, Donna Ermantrout, Steve Collins and Warren Potter all counted four wins each to the team total for the night.  Steve hit a 134 in his winning match against Crew spare Ryan to top the team scores for the evening.

Final Parksville Legion Short Sighted Crew – 12, French Creek Pub Dart Vaders – 21

Playing at their home venue, the Eagles Hall X-Men hosted the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows to a closely matched night of darts.  The home team burst out of the gate, winning two of the three doubles and three of the first five singles matches before the Straight Arrows found their mojo and handed them a whitewash in the second singles set.  The remaining set wins were exactly matched, meaning that whitewash set was the winning set for the Arrows.  Straight Arrow Shane Ovington and Rob Clarke brought four wins in five singles to top the scores for the team.  Rob Clarke had a darting hat trick with team high score of 126, which was also team high out in his winning match against X-Men Fraser Vincent.   Leading the wins for the X-Men, Pony Moore and Craig Dempsey bested three of their five Arrow opponents.  Captain Todd Burnham was having a great night for play, but not wins, hitting the team high score of 133, which like Rob Clarke, was also team high out against his match against Arrow’s Ron Keast.  Both Todd and Rob now reside in the top two spots on the Leader Board for Men’s High Outs.

Finals score Eagles Hall X-Men – 15, Eagles Hall Straight Arrows – 18

The fourth match of the night brought the Deep Bay Oceanside Triples and The Bashers together at the Parksville Legion for a well-fought match of darts.  Leading the wins for The Bashers, Rob Shaw, Joe Fortune and Tom Ayley topped the wins, each losing to only one match in five singles.  Rob pinned the team high score of 125 in his winning match against Triple’s Rica Reimer to achieve team high score for the night.  Leading the wins for the Triples, team captain, Jim Hood, and co-captain, Keith Reimer, showed their leadership skills and darting prowess with three wins each in five singles.  Jim Hood landed a 134 in his match against Basher Anita Hopps, while it was the team high score for the night, it wasn’t enough to win the game.

Final score Deep Bay Consulting Oceanside Triples – 13, The Bashers – 20
