Week 12 Dart Highlights

Player shortage caused the match between the Eagles Hall X-Men and the Toolshed Triples to postpone their match at the Eagles Hall last Tuesday night.  Hopefully. Todd brought enough ears for everyone when they get together for a rematch.

The two Parksville Legion teams met at their shared venue for thirty-three games of darts. The Respect-A-Bulls pulled ahead of the River Benders in the doubles and kept the pressure up through to the last two sets, when the Benders gave a massive push, winning 8 of the last 10 matches.  Leading the wins for the Respect-A-Bulls, Joe Fortune and Randy Morrow both brought four wins in six singles and team high-score for the night was a trifecta between Captain Anita Hopps, Randy Morrow and Joe Fortune, all hitting a 140.  River Benders’ Craig Dempsey was unbeaten in his five singles, with Jim Thompson following up with four wins.  Mike Percy shot team high score of 133.

Final score Respect-A-Bulls – 16, River Benders – 17

Meeting in the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Short-Sighted Crew and the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes also battled it out on the oche.  Breaking their season-long run of losing most of their doubles, the Eagle Eyes were victorious in all three doubles.  Grappling to regain some points, the Crew slowly got ahead of the Eyes.  A final push by the away team brought the game to a single point difference by the end of the night. Leading the wins for Crew, Peter Bisiker was five for six and Captain Ron Stanley hit the high score of 140.  Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, the men of the team – Arless McNeill, Harry Vanheerwaarden and Alan Barry – all scooped three wins in five matches away from the home team.  Alan also had team high score with a 133.

Final score Short-Sighted Crew – 17, Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes – 16

Also playing at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Jokers Wild hosted the Cascadia Bristle Bashers to a fast-paced night of darts.  The Jokers Wild are lucky to have Richard Rempel on their team or it would have been a total wash (except for one win by Captain Jolene Swanson).  Richard shot the team high score of 140.  Despite the Jokers Wild not getting many points at the end of the night, the games were fantastic, well played by all players.  Leading the wins for the Bashers, Terry Strawson and Dustin Fee, were undefeated in their five matches and both pinned a 140 for team top score.  Darrell Jobb had a 91 checkout in his match against Kevin Gillespie, putting him on the leader board for the first time this season.

Final score Jokers Wild – 5, Cascadia Bristle Bashers 28

Meanwhile, over at the Eagles Hall, the Straight Arrows welcomed the Qualicum Beach Legion Shooters to an only slightly less one-sided match of darts than the previously described match.  Leading the wins for the home team, Arrow Poul Reimer was successful in three of his five singles matches.  Mike Beno pinned two of the top scores for the Arrows - 133 and 135.  Two Shooters, Rocky Paquette and Lee Page, were unbeaten at the end of the night and both hit the high score for the team – 140 – in the first singles set.

Final score Eagles Hall Straight Arrows – 8, Qualicum Beach Legion Shooters – 25
