Week 12 Dart Highlights

The X-Men met with the Toolshed Triples on Tuesday night at their joint home venue – the Eagles Hall – and played a spirited match of darts. Taking the lead early, the home team X-Men kept up the pressure until the final three sets, when the Triples bested the Men. It was too little, too late, and the home team won the match 19 to 14. Leading the wins for the X-Men, Fraser Vincent took five wins in six matches, supported by Steve Stewart and Rob Sparrow – who each added their four wins to the total. Glen Dilworth shot team high score of 140, 134, and 100. Leading the Triples in wins, both Denise Tabler and Tom Rodgers brought three wins to the team total. Keith Reimer grabbed team high score with a 114.

Gathering at the Parksville Legion, the Legion Shooters and the Legion B-Sharps played 33 games of darts. Keeping slightly ahead of their opponents, the home team Shooters, gave a final push in the final sets to bring the score to 20 – 13 for the Shooters. Leading the wins for the Shooters, Larry MacDonald did not let a single opponent double out first. Thom Ford, as well as winning four of six matches, threw the new Leaderboard top score of 177. Nice darts Thom! Leading the wins for the B-Sharps, Arless McNeill brought four home wins in five matches. Teammate, Andy Burton, shared the top score with Arless – both shooting a 140.

Getting together at the Qualicum Legion, the Qualicum Beach Legion Short Sighted Crew hosted the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes to a closely matched night of darts. Newly appointed Eagle Eye Captain, Jolene Swanson, shocked fellow Eagle Eyes with four wins in five matches, and not so shockingly – Richard Rempel and Tedd Ducker also took four wins apiece. Mike McNulty shot a 156 to top the team's scores for the night. Leading the wins for the home team, Steven Eckhart, was nearly unbeatable with four wins in his five matches. Steven topped the scores for Crew as well, hitting an impressive 154! Final score – Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes – 18, Short Sighted Crew – 15.

Also playing at the Qualicum Beach Legion, the Legion Bulls Hitters hosted the Cascadia Bristle Bashers to 33 games of darts. The away team took the lead and didn’t let it go winning the match 24 to 9. Leading the wins for the Bashers, Terry Strawson, was unbeatable in his five matches, followed by four wins in five from Steve Collins. Basher Warren Potter topped the scores for the team, landing a 165 to put him in the #2 spot on the League Leader Board. Leading the Hitters in wins, Ryan Fortune, doubled out four of his five matches and had scores of 100x3, 116 and a 120. Team high scorer, Alan Farmer, shot a 121.

Filling up the remaining boards at the Eagles Hall, the Straight Arrows welcomed the San Group Wood Chuckers to throw some darts. Starting off strong, the home team slowly lost their lead, with the Chuckers getting ahead by the end of the fourth set. Leading the wins for the Wood Chuckers, Jim Thompson was unbeatable in his six matches and topped the scores for the team with a 141. Kelly Kovacs brought the most high scores Tuesday night, with scores of 100x2, 105, 121, and 140. Leading the wins for the home team, John Curtis, doubled out in four of his five matches, followed by three wins each from Ron Keast, Mike Beno, and Poul Reimer. Team high score was shot by Poul Reimer, hitting an impressive 135!
