March 22nd Dart Highlights

Week 10 of regular league play saw the Comfort Group X-Men hosting the Toolshed Triples to 33 games of darts at the Parksville Legion. Heavy hitters from the start the X-Men took lead early and hung on throughout the night. For the first time in this statistician’s recollection that an entire team had the same score at the end of the night. All six X-Men won four of their five matches. High Score was a two way tie – Glenn Dilworth and Todd Burnham both shot a 133. Leading the wins for the Triples – Jim Hood and Denise Tabler both won two matches and Jim and Darren Tabler both shot team high score of 127. Final score X-Men 26 to Triples 7.

Playing at the Qualicum Legion, the home team Short Sighted Crew hosted the top team in the league – the Legion Shooters. Both teams played well, keeping the scores even until the fourth set, when the Crew won four of the five games and both teams battled it out to the end of the match. Most wins for the Crew was a tie between Peter Bisiker and Lee Page – both winning four of their six matches. They also tied for high scores as well, Peter shot scores of 140, 120, 116 and 100x2; Lee shot 140, 136, 133, 100x3. The Shooters’ Larry MacDonald and Thom Ford lead their team in wins – four apiece. There were 140’s a-plenty for the Shooters, Thom Ford hit three 140’s and Larry hit one. Captain Lloyd Ausland landed himself in the middle of the Leader board Men’s High Check Out with a 97 out. Final score Short Sighted Crew 17 Parksville Legion Shooters 16.

Heating up the boards at the Eagles Hall, the Straight Arrows hosted the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes, who welcomed newcomer, Rhonda Hiscutt, to the team roster. Taking the lead early, the Eagle Eyes dominated the home team. Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, Tedd Ducker doubled out four of his five matches and scored the team high score of 121. John Curtis of the Straight Arrows, was unbeatable in all six of his matches and took team high score of 132. Team mate Mike Beno won five of his six matches and garnered scores of 122 and 128. Final score Eagle Eyes 19 Straight Arrows 14.

Playing at the Parksville Legion, the Cascadia Bristle Bashers met with the Qualicum Beach Legion Bulls Hitters for six sets of singles and three doubles matches. The Bulls Hitters, with returning player Angie Kienas, inched ahead of the Bristle Bashers early on, but a final push in the fifth set put the Bashers one point ahead of the Bulls Hitters at the end of the match. Leading the wins for the Bashers, Warren Potter doubled out four of his five matches, as well as hit the team high score of 133. Steve Collins, who hit the league’s first 180 of the season the week before, doubled out three of his five matches. Leading the wins for the Bulls Hitters, Bernie Brockway and Angie Kienas each beat five of their six opponents. Team high score – 140 – was shot by Alan Farmer. Final score Bristle Bashers 17 Qualicum Beach Legion Bulls Hitters 16.
