A huge thank you to all 22 players who pre-registered, paid $10 each to play darts at the Parksville Legion Saturday afternoon.  With 11 blind draw teams, a crazy dart board – 11 at the top, not 20, a turkey shoot, and 50/50 draw, it was a fun way to spend a rainy Saturday.

Winning nine of ten matches, Pony Moore and partner, teammate Glen Dilworth, won themselves a turkey each.  Thom Ford and partner Rob Shaw came in second, winning a ham for their 8 win effort.  Playing off for third, Todd Burnham and partner, Terry Strawson, faced the inscrutable team of Peter Bisiker and Rob Clarke.  It was a hard fought match, with Peter and Rob doubling out before their opponents, to win a roasting chicken each. Rob Clarke also won a $10 gift card for his high out of 74, and Toni Crompton won a $10 gift card for her 24 out.  Joe Fortune pinned a 171 to win a $10 gift card for Men’s High Score, while Michelle Gummeson hit a 106 to get her $10 gift card.  Joe also won the Snowball Draw of $44 for his 121 score.  So many winners!!

Shout out to Mike Beno and Jeff Rhode for taking an extra turn on the crazy board to allow the team of Todd Burnham and Terry Strawson play on it the expected second time. I think I figured out how to arrange the scoresheet, now I know for next time. I think a lot of the players enjoyed playing on a board with all the numbers in the 'wrong place'. Makes you think before you throw for sure!!

Half way through the tournament, a third turkey was up for grabs, players paid $5.00 for three throws at a stickered picture of a turkey.  If they hit a sticker, they advanced to the second round which had smaller stickers to shoot for.  After $115 was raised for the league, five people made their way to the second round and were given two turns each at hitting a sticker.  Roy Neall was the only shooter to poke a hole in a sticker and won himself a turkey, congrats Roy!

Terry Strawson may not have won anything for his dart playing, but he won $118 in the 50/50 draw and also won a chocolate gift basket door prize donated by His & Hers Salon owner, Faith Hamilton-Thorne.

This is the only members only event we host in the regular season, our next event will be a money shoot in February 2026. Hope we get as many people out then as we did this weekend. Happy Holidays to all!!
