December 14th Dart Action

Playing for the first time this season in their home venue, the Qualicum Beach Legion B-Sharps met with the Qualicum Beach Legion Short Sighted Crew for a swift night of darts. Short Sighted Crew’s Lee Page catapulted to the League #1 position this week, proving unbeatable all night with six wins and scores of 125 and 100x2. Peter Bisiker, Don Punter and Ron Stanley were hot on his heels with five wins in each of their six matches. Ron also shot team high score of 140. B-Sharps’ Stan Foster and Anna Daschuk took a couple wins each from the dominating team and Captain Colleen McNeill had a high score or 109. Final score Short Sighted Crew 25 to B-Sharps 8.

Another one-sided match was played at the Qualicum Beach Legion with the home team, the Bulls Hitters leading the wins against the opposing Toolshed Triples 27 to 6. Doubling out in 100% of their matches the Hitter’s Bernie Brockway and Alan Farmer each won five, followed by Captain Peter Spinks and Colin Adams each with four wins in five games. Colin also hopped onto the Leaderboard with a high score of 160!! Nice to see a returning player to the League, welcome back to your freshman team, Anne O’Sullivan!

If the walls have ears then the Eagles Hall has Eyes – the Eagle Eyes that is – and it was a neck and neck match between the Eyes and the Men – the Comfort Group X-Men to be specific. Okay, that’s enough body parts euphemisms, back to reporting the match! LOL

Set for set each team was level, up until the final game, when home team Eagle Eye Tedd Ducker took the winning point from away team X-Man Steve Stewart – final score 17 to 16. A nail-biter for sure! Eagle Eye Tedd was the top scorer with four wins in five matches, followed by Captain Mike McNulty and Toni Crompton with three wins in their four matches. Tedd and Rodney Allen topped the high score with a 121. X-Men Pony Moore and Fraser Vincent lead the wins for the away team with four wins in five matches and a high score of 140 went to Dave Wishlow.

I popped into this venue to drop off Gerry James “Kid Dynamite” biographies and I realize in hindsight I should have stuck around to watch the night unfold. #2 team Parksville Legion Shooters met with the top team Cascadia Bristle Bashers for what I must now imagine were some great games of darts. Charging out of the oche, the home team took a commanding lead against the Bashers and despite fighting back mid-way through the night, the Shooters maintained their lead right through to the final match – final score Shooters 22 to Bristle Bashers 11. This win puts the Shooters in the League #1 spot, toppling the Bashers from their perch for the first time this season.

Playing in top form Shooter Larry MacDonald outshot six of the Basher for 100% wins, aided by high scores of 140, 139, 115 and 100x3. Thom Ford bested five of his six matches with scores of 132 & 100x3. Leading the wins for the Bashers, Warren Potter and Noella Ross each took three wins from the home team in six matches. High score went to Warren with not one, but two, 117’s.
